Check the Power

  • Let the router link LED on your extender become stable. If it is stable, it means that the connection between your router and Netgear extender is successfully established. In case not, make sure that the Ethernet cable you have used is properly connected.
  • Also, ensure to use non-dusty, finger-tight, and cuts-free Ethernet cable.
 Connect to Correct SSID

If you are connected to a wrong SSID, chances are you might face Netgear range extender setup issues. To setup Netgear extender without any hassle, make sure to get connected to Netgear_Ext only (default) or your personalized network name (SSID).

Use the Correct Web Address

To access the Netgear Genie setup page for the installation of your device without any hassle, make sure that you are using the correct web address.

  • Use mywifiext, mywifiext.net or mywifiext.com for Android devices or Windows computers. You can also use Netgear extender IP address for logging into the setup page.
  • Use mywifiext local for iOS, iPhone, iPad or Apple devices.

 Note:

  • Enter the web address or the IP address into the browser’s address bar only. Do not use the browser’s search bar.
  • Make sure that there aren’t any typos while tying the web or the IP address.
 Enter the Correct Netgear Extender Login Details

To setup WiFi extender, ensure that you have the correct Netgear extender login details. If you have personalized the login details, the default one will no longer work. So, make sure to use the correct one. For default login credentials, see the Netgear extender manual. On the off chance that you have forgotten or lost your personalized login credentials, then resetting Netgear extender back to factory default values would be a better option.

  • All the security and personalized settings will be deleted.
  • You have to setup WiFi extender again using the default login credentials.
